Welcome to the Austin Community College District
The Austin Community College District is the primary gateway to higher education and training for residents in eight Central Texas counties. ACC is among the fastest-growing community colleges in the country, providing access to valuable programs and services that change lives and benefit communities.
Mission and Vision
The ACC District promotes student success and improves communities by providing affordable access to higher education and workforce training in its eight-county service area. Community colleges have a diverse, four-part mission:
- General education and academic transfer
- Workforce education
- Foundation programs to get students college-ready
- Lifelong learning (Continuing Education)

Student Success
ACC is committed to enhancing learning and success for all students. The college's Student Success Initiative focuses on the use of student performance data to drive decision-making, and ACC has implemented a number of innovative programs to meet the seven core SSI goals. Master Plan
The Master Plan is ACC's long-term strategy to expand programs and services to meet dramatic enrollment increases mandated by the state's Closing the Gaps initiative. The Master Plan includes the development of campus-level plans, created in partnership with community-based Campus Advisory Committees, to guide growth of existing facilities (read a current draft of the report), as well as construction and expansion of new campuses.
The ACC Board of Trustees passed the 2012-14 Master Plan in July 2011. The vote was part of the annual review and update of ACC’s comprehensive strategy for the future.
Service Area
ACC has a 7,000-square mile service area defined by the Texas Legislature. The service area includes Travis, Williamson, Hays, Bastrop, Caldwell, Blanco, and Gillespie counties, plus a portion of Gonzales County. Within the service area, ACC's taxing district includes the city of Austin as well as the Austin, Leander, Manor, Del Valle, Round Rock, Elgin, and Hays school districts.
