  2. The agenda for the meeting was approved.

  3. Agenda

    1. Introductions and discussion of any items of interest brought up from the Dean's meeting or in general.
    2. Request to adopt on an emergency basis an on-line resource, Aplia by Paul Romer, for the internet based economics' courses.
    3. Request to approve changes to the study abroad program in Mexico. Professor Davis would like to substitute the Field Methods (ANT 2433) course for the Introduction to Archaeology (ANTH 2302) course and add a special needs course not now offered by the Anthropology department. That course would be a "Mesoamerican Archaeology" course.
    4. Discuss the need to renew our request to teach the Field Methods (ANT 2433) course as a special needs course every year and to renew our requests for our study abroad summer programs in Mexico and Peru every year.
    5. Adjourn.
  4. Introductions were made. There was no discussion of anything brought up in the Dean's meeting.
  5. James Sondgeroth explained how the Aplia website worked and why requiring it for Open Campus econ students was appropriate. The task force voted unanimously to add this to the approved textbook list for both Econ 2301 and Econ 2302.
  6. Clint Davis presented the changes he wanted to make to his Study Abroad in Mexico Summer Program. See his handout at: http://www2.austincc.edu/SOCSCI/internationalPrograms/Tour2004Brochure.html. He  wants to bring a second instructor into the program, Karen Bell. Karen would teach the Field Methods course there. In addition, he wants to add a new special needs class to the curriculum, Mesoamerican Archeology, and teach it there instead of Introduction to Archeology. Until the Coordinating Board approved the new special needs course, he would plan to continue teaching the Intro. to Archeology course.

The Task Force unanimously approved all the changes to the program Professor Davis requested.

This includes approval for the new special needs course.

  7. The Task Force also approved having Elizabeth Pintar seek a renewal of the Coordinating Board's permission to teach the Field Methods (ANT 2433) at ACC.

The Task Force also approved having Clint Davis seek a renewal of the Coordinating Board's permission to offer the Study Abroad in Mexico program.

The Task Force also approved having Carol Hayman seek a renewal of the Coordinating Board's permission to offer the Study Abroad in Peru program.

  8. The meeting was adjourned at 8:30 pm.
