FALL 2000 SCHEDULE
. This was the main topic of business. Jim Sondgeroth noted that compliance with common core numbering might well result in a reversal of demand, with the demand for macro courses outrunning the demand for micro courses. He suggested that we simply schedule macro classes wherever we had previously scheduled micro classes, and micro classes wherever we had scheduled macro classes. He also suggested that we offer evening classes two days a week instead of one day a week in order to boost enrollment. Both issues provoked extensive discussion, and the proposals were approved, provided Dean Rex Peebles agrees. Clint Davis then suggested that the Field Methods course in Anthropology on M 6 – 8:50 to T-TH afternoon or evening and replace it with a Cultural Geography course. He noted that students had been requesting the move, and he felt it would stimulate enrollment. he agreed to gather supporting data. He also suggested that we explore the possibility of adding a World Regional Geography course, possibly at NRG. Elizabeth Pintar requested that Physical Anthropology courses be moved to the room with the specimen cabinets in order to teach the course effectively and prevent the current high dropout rate. Clint Davis noted that all Geography courses be taught in the map rooms for the same reasons. Kumassah said he would look into this and email Pintar and Davis. Jim Sondgeroth suggested that we add a cultural anthropology course in the evening in order to accommodate non-traditional students.
It was noted that we had no effective guidelines for removing Adjunct Faculty from the eligibility list. Kumassah said he will confer with Rex as to the appropriate guidelines.
DEAN REX PEEBLES
was not able to address the committee on Institutional Effectiveness as he was delayed in a previous meeting.
