What is the combined
Administrative
Assistant/ESL 16-Week Program?:
English as a Second Language students can learn to become dental
assistants while they are learning English.
Students are enrolled in both English
as a Second Language (ESL) classes and classes that will lead to a
career as an Administrative Assistant.
This program is provided
through a partnership of Worksource (Workforce Centers), Austin
Community College Continuing Education Department, and Austin Community
College Adult Education Department.
Classes started January,
2008 and applications are no longer being accepted. If the program
is offered for January, 2009, applications will be accepted starting in
November, 2008
What are the
Administrative
Assistant Classes?
You will
learn about
current office procedures,
keyboarding / data entry,
Microsoft Word, Excel,
Power Point, Access,
business math, file
management, and business communications.
What are English as a Second Language (ESL) Classes?
These ESL classes will have a special focus on vocabulary students will
need as administrative assistants. Classes will also include general
English for students so they may improve their English writing and
speaking skills.
Cost: FREE to those who qualify
Admission Requirements:
Students must be nonnative speakers
of English, needing ESL classes, 18 years or older, and eligible to work
in the United States.
