What is the One Year Combined
Dental Assistant/ESL Program?:
English as a Second Language students can
learn to become dental assistants while they are learning English.
Students are enrolled in both English
as a Second Language (ESL) classes and classes that will lead to a
career as a Dental Assistant.
This program is provided
through a partnership of Worksource (Workforce Centers), Austin
Community College Continuing Education Department, and Austin Community
College Adult Education Department.
Classes started January, 2008 and
applications are no longer being accepted. If this program is
offered January, 2009, applications will begin to be accepted starting
November 2008.
What are the Dental
Assistant Classes?
You will
learn about dental science, emergency management, office management and
procedures, and prepare for CPR and Dental Radiology certifications.
What are English as Second Language Classes?
These ESL classes will have a special focus on vocabulary students will
need as dental assistants. Classes will also include general
English for students so they may improve their English writing and
speaking skills.
Cost: FREE to those who qualify
For Admission Requirements
and How to Apply:
Students must be nonnative speakers of English, needing ESL classes, 18
years or older, and eligible to work in the United States.
