You must bring these documents to orientation (no admittance without required documents):
A
government issued identification (state, national, or foreign) picture ID (NO SCHOOL
OR COPIES OF IDS) that includes your date of birth, pen, and
pencil.
17 year-old students
must also bring a copy of a withdrawal letter from the last school they
attended in addition to the ID requirement.
Students who have been
home schooled
or who have just moved to this area must obtain a withdrawal form from
the school in their area where they would have been required to attend.
16 year-old students
must also bring a copy of an official court order and a withdrawal letter
from the last school they attended in addition to the ID requirement.
F1,
B1,
and B2 visas are NOT eligible for this program. No one under the age of 16
may attend these classes.
Acceptable forms of identification:
A government issued identification (state, national, or foreign).
Examples are State of Texas Driver's License, Department of Public
Safety ID, Passport, Military ID, or an ID issued by a foreign
government that shows name, address, date of birth, photograph and
signature.
SCHOOL IDS AND COPIES OF IDS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.
Important:
Persons
are admitted to orientation on a first come, first serve basis. It is recommended
that you arrive early.
Children may
not attend the orientation.
To enroll in class:
The first step is to attend this
orientation session. During the orientation, you
will be assessed (tested) in order to determine which level class you
need. You will be placed in a class at the end of orientation that
is appropriate for your level. Please see information on class
location below.

Those eligible to attend:
People who did not finish high school can enter our Adult Basic Education/GED
classes. Any person 18 years old or older living permanently in the U.S. 17 year-old students may attend with a copy of a withdrawal letter from the last school they attended. 16 year-old students may attend with a copy of an official court order and a withdrawal letter from the last school they attended.
B and F visas are NOT eligible for this program (please call 223-5123 is
you have a question about your visa).
Class Location:
We do not publish a schedule of classes, because class location,
availability, and level change as needed. We try to offer classes
in North, South, and Central Austin in the morning, afternoon, and
evening--but all classes are not available at all times and in all
parts of Austin. Most of our classes meet 4 to 5 times weekly,
with very few classes meeting less times weekly. We offer several
7:30am-9:00am classes, although they may not be available at all
orientations. Please remember
in order to stay enrolled in our classes, you must be present 75% of the
time, so choose a class that you will be able to attend.
