Associate degree |
A program of study that includes at least 60 hours of credit. |
Catalog |
The college’s existing policies and information obtained from appropriate college officials. |
Certificate |
A program of study that is usually less than 60 hours of credit. |
Core curriculum |
The coursework from all disciplines that are required for all undergraduate degrees—liberal arts, humanities, sciences, and political, social, and cultural history. |

Credit hours (semester credit hours) |
The number of classroom hours per week throughout a school term; at ACC, the number of credits a course is worth is indicated by the 2nd digit. For example, HIST 1301 is worth 3 credits. BIOL 1406 is worth 4 credits. FREN 1511 is worth 5 credits. |
Full-time |
Full time enrollment is 12 credits or more per semester. |
GPA (Grade Point Average) |
The average obtained by dividing the total number of grade points earned by the total number of credits attempted. |
Part-time |
Part time enrollment is less than 12 credits per semester. |
Semester |
Fall semester runs from the end of August thru mid December. Spring semester begins in January and ends in May. Summer is June through August. |
