WHAT IS THE ACCCEA?
Employees have automatic membership in the Classified Employees Association (ACCCEA) by virtue of their ACC employment classification. There are nearly 700 members. The ACCCEAs purpose is to promote the best working conditions for its members through the collaborative efforts of respect, communication and mutual decision-making among all sections of the College. The ACCCEA has representation on college-wide committees through a shared governance process. The ACCCEA governing body consists of elected officers: President, President Elect, Secretary, Parliamentarian, and Campus Representatives in accordance with the organizations bylaws.

ELECTION TIME:
Officer Elections
Our Parliamentarian, Judy Green, is keeping ACCCEA on track by reminding me that the ACCCEA bylaws separate the nomination of officers from the council and committee procedures. The nomination of officers will be handled by a separate committee of appointed members. Al Kaiser has graciously accepted the request to chair the nomination committee for FY 10 officers. He and his committee will be responsible for ensuring our association is well represented for the coming year. An email will be forthcoming about how Al wants to proceed. You will be hearing from us very soon.
Representatives for Committees
One of the duties of the ACCCEA President Elect, Nicole Bell, is to obtain a list of members willing to serve as committee reps for the next fiscal year starting in September. There are openings on the college-wide councils and committees listed at http://www.austincc.edu/orgref/councils/index.php. These positions are vital to the association. ACCCEA needs members that are willing and able to participate as the classified employees’ representative in the shared governance process at ACC. It does require time away from your job. The approval and support of your supervisor is necessary. It is rewarding to be a part of this process.
If you wish to serve as a representative to one of ACC’s Councils or Committees for the coming year, please let Nicole know. Please email Nicole Bell, nbell2@austincc.edu, to put your name in the hopper for FY10. If you have questions her number is 223-7997.
Thank you.
