Re: Employee Attendance at Association Meetings

Shared governance ensures participation of all employees in the decision-making and other processes of the College. Classified and Professional-Technical employees provide valuable participation and input into these processes. Many of these employees serve as representatives on various committees and councils and should be encouraged to attend. In addition, these employees meet periodically as an Association to consider, discuss and respond to shared governance issues. Classified and Professional-Technical employees should be encouraged to participate in the shared governance processes and Association meetings.

The ACC Classified Employees Association (ACCCEA) meets the 2nd Tuesday of the month. The Professional-Technical Employees Association (APTE) meets quarterly.

Employees should be given adequate travel and time to fully participate in meetings. ACC provides reimbursement for travel in accordance with the IRS guidelines and thus employees should be reimbursed for mileage for travel to and from meetings.

For offices that encounter problems regarding coverage, it may be helpful for employees to alternate covering the office and rotate attendance at the Association meetings.
