CLASSIFIED EMPLOYEES ASSOCIATION

Tuesday, January 9, 2001, HBC room 107, Noon – 1:00 PM

The meeting was called to order at 12:10 PM.

Welcome:

Barbara welcomed everyone to the meeting and explained that this was going to be an open meeting.  No set agenda, just a meeting where everyone could get together and eat, socialize and discuss any business they found appropriate.

Introductions were made, each employee stood

Classified Emergency Fund:

Barbara asked if anyone had any ideas for fundraising and then took a few minutes to describe what the Classified Emergency Fund is as there were a couple of new employees present at the meeting.  Judy Doyen explained that Gubin Lopez a Patrol Officer with Campus Police explained to Judy that he would be having a garage sale soon and that he was willing to donate all funds from the garage sale to the Emergency Fund, he only asked that he have at least two ACCCEA volunteers help him work the garage sale.  Kerry Landfield volunteered along with Nina Perry a new employee at ACC.

Judy gave to Barbara a donation check for $50.00 from Carol Nasworthy.  Judy then also gave Barbara a donation check from herself for $50.00.  Within minutes, Al Kaiser and Barbara Dickey matched their donations by giving $50.00 each as well.

There was also a discussion in regards to ways to raise money for the Classified Emergency Fund.  Several ideas included having a bake sale at HBC in the morning that would include breakfast tacos.  George Sweeney suggested having a barbeque at HBC and stated that he would over see it.  A raffle was also suggested with the idea of getting a donation from Sams or Wal-Mart.  It was suggested that if anyone has any connections or knows someone in the breakfast taco business or perhaps someone that works at a company that could make a donation that phone calls start being made.

Surprise Party for Barbara Dickey

Judy Doyen explained to everyone that over the Christmas holiday that Barbara got married.  Therefore the Classified Association thought it be only right to have a party to celebrate.  Judy Green made and decorated a beautiful cake for Barbara that included a top half of the cake in the shape of a heart for Barbara to take home for her and her husband.  There were also many gifts for Barbara!

During the party everyone in attendance took a moment to introduce themselves and explain to others how long they’ve worked at the college, where they work, and also it gave them an opportunity to share something with rest of the group.

The next meeting will be on Tuesday, February 13, 2001.

The meeting was adjourned at 1:00 PM.
