Austin Community College Classified Employees Association

Minutes - Tue, Feb. 8, 2000, HBC Room 201.1 – noon-1:00 pm

The meeting was called to order. Officers and Representatives were introduced.

President Judy Doyen presented the book "Inner Peace in a 9-5 World" to Bill Carter, Associate Vice President of Information Technology (wecarter@austin.cc.tx.us).  Regarding technology,  ACC is hiring two Technology Trainers to train us on email, phone, web, Datatel, software. All employees will be trained as needed. Also, ACC no longer supports Eudora as an email package - users should be using Netscape or Microsoft Outlook as their email package.

For problems with telephone, ACCNET, microcomputer support, systems (Datatel, etc.), the 1st point of contact should be the Help Desk;  2nd, Betsy Richison or Gary Weseman; then, Bill Carter.

Rebecca D'Amico moved to accept the December/January minutes; Jackie Pool seconded; the minutes were approved.

Donald Seamster, new Classified Representative on the Campus Police Task Force, stated they're making themselves user-friendly with the use of education and training.  He said  711 called from any ACC phone, is the on-campus emergency number.

Former ACCCEA President Margie Shelnutt made a presentation in honor of (absent) retiring Classified employee, Janie Ross. Classified Rep Rebecca D'Amico accepted the gift. Thanks Janie for supporting ACCCEA. We wish you well!

Former ACCCEA President Tomi Welch reminds that April 21 is the Classified Breakfast, 8:30 am - 10:30 am, HBC room 201.  She read the invitations she made for ACC Board members. President Doyen announced that Rebecca D'Amico had attended the ACC Board meeting on February 7th with her and handed the invitations to the Board members. Tomi also volunteered to keep the ACCCEA scrapbook in her office at HBC.

Tracy Thomason and Janice Ramirez volunteered to work on a Classified Brochure to hand out to new Classified employees at the New Employee Orientations conducted by Human Resources.

Per Pam Brownlee, Nomination Committee, nomination forms will be mailed again for the election of the vacant offices of president-elect and representative. This is necessary due to the crush of classified job deadlines in general and the timing of the winter holidays.   The ballot will be mailed about a week after nominations close so as to allow two weeks voting time.

Cleo Moore was recognized as our unofficial photographer at ACCCEA events.

Donna Pitts announced that the first order of our official classified T-shirts is on the way. Print your order form from our web page

ACColade Committee member Pam Brownlee announced a great start for ACC's employee recognition program, ACColades. The first month's winners will be announced soon.  Keep up the good work: compliment your fellow workers.

Door prizes: Austin Texas T-shirt - Margie Shelnutt; Texas Authentic T-shirt - Jeannie Beach; books - Cindy Hernandez Creating Your Future, Chanel Belle The Point and Click Business Builder: Start Your Internet Business. Next meeting: Tuesday, March 7, 2000 - Annual Luncheon with Dr. Fonte

Respectfully submitted, Donna Pitts
