Classified Association Meeting - September 16, 1999

President Gloria Walker called the meeting to order. All members introduced themselves.

GUEST SPEAKER -- Dr. Gerry Tucker, Associate Vice President of Human Resources: Highlights:

- The college's infrastructure has changed and there are problems with Datatel.

- A memo is going out regarding the trouble with Datatel on the last payroll checks.

- General guidelines for Professional Development will be drafted.

- Recognition/Rewards Committee is working very diligently on this project.

- A new performance appraisal system will be implemented (hopefully by November 1?)

- Effective October 1, a new hiring process will take place. HR will screen all applications and forward only qualified applicants to appropriate interviewers. All supervisors will be trained on hiring in the fall and they will train committee members before interviews can start.

- Gerry will give the president of ACCCEA a copy of the Sabbatical Administrative Rule.

- Gerry encourages us to make ensure that we have reps on College committees.

- If you know of a special type of program that is not at ACC yet, please let HR know.

Gerry presented Tomi Welch with a trophy /certificate for her work as President. Judy Doyen also presented Tomi an Oscar Classified Award.

COMMITTEE REPORT -- Judy Doyen reported on the Academic Affairs Council: The officers met with Steve Kinslow regarding registration. The registration process will begin early. Training should be limited (not 8 hours). Additional input should be sent to Gloria or Judy.

OTHER INFORMATION

- Upper evaluations (evaluating supervisors). There has been no feedback regarding this process: ACCCEA president will follow up.

- Cheryl Richard is trying to schedule dates for the Classified Breakfast and the Professional Development Day. If you want to be on one of these committees, give us your name.

NEW BUSINESS

The Provosts will be our guest speakers on November 9^th.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES

The minutes for July and August were moved by Judy Doyen and second by Jackie Pool and George Sweeney to be approved as submitted.

OLD BUSINESS

Fundraiser – Donna Pitts presented the entries for the T-shirt contest. George Sweeney moved to approve to T-shirt design with the Stars and approved by all present.

The meeting adjourned at 1:05 p.m.
