Guidelines

1.       Smoking is prohibited in all College facilities, including conference and meeting rooms, classrooms, auditoriums, maintenance areas, support services areas, offices, lounges, rest rooms, hallways, stairways, elevators and college vehicles, except where specifically designated.  “No smoking” signs shall comply with any local, state, or federal regulations.

2.       Campus Managers, after consultation with students and employees, are responsible for designating outdoor “smoking” areas on their campuses.  Smoking shall be confined to these areas.  Smoking areas should be so situated so that smoke will not directly affect nonsmokers.   

3.       Any complaint regarding an individual smoking in a non-smoking area should be directed to the Campus Manager’s office.  

4.       The Campus Manager shall provide the required receptacles for smokers to guard against fire and to maintain a clean campus environment.  All smoking materials must be disposed of in the appropriate receptacles.  

5.       The College will support employees’ and students’ efforts to quit smoking by providing resources and programs for smoking cessation.
