Value Statement
The Austin Community College District (“ACC” or “the College”) is committed to minimizing its impact on the environment, reducing its dependence on non-renewable resources, and providing educational leadership in conservation efforts.
Administrative Rule
The College will ensure that all current and proposed construction, renovation, maintenance, and operations support district-wide sustainability goals. The College will promote the principles of efficiency and sustainability in its curricula at all levels where consistent with the course of instruction.
Definitions
Sustainability: The ability of the College to meet the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.
Operations: Activities that support the ongoing functions of the College, both directly and indirectly, including:
· Energy and water usage
· Employee and student transportation
· Recycling and waste management
· Purchasing practices
