Value Statement 

The Austin Community College District (“ACC” or “the College”) will comply with the applicable regulations of the Fair Labor Standards Act and other state and federal laws. 

The College expects supervisors to assign work that can be completed during the employee's standard work schedule.  However, when additional time is required to complete an assignment or meet deadlines non-exempt employees will be given over-time pay to compensate for overtime work.  

Administrative Rule 

All hourly, work-study and non-exempt employees who work in excess of 40 hours per work week shall receive overtime pay at the rate of time and one-half of the employee’s regular rate of pay.  Non-exempt employees may not receive compensatory time.   

Non-exempt employees may not engage in dual employment with Austin Community College in excess of the 40-hour work week except when the work performed in additional to their regularly scheduled job is occasional or sporadic work.  Such work must be engaged solely at the employee’s option without coercion, direct or implied, by the employer; it must be in a substantially different capacity, not within the same general occupational category, and it must be approved by the supervisor.  


The FLSA standard definition of a work week is “A fixed and regularly recurring period of 168 hours in seven consecutive 24-hour periods.” 

The standard ACC work week period is hereby established as follows: 

·         Sunday, 12:01 a.m. (morning) to Saturday, 12:00 p.m. (midnight).
