Value Statement 

The Austin Community College District values ethical and responsible stewardship of public funds.  The Student Financial Aid Office, therefore, establishes and enforces Satisfactory Academic Progress Standards in compliance with federal regulations to ensure that only eligible students receive awards 

Administrative Rule 

1.     All students applying for financial assistance must have a 2.0 cumulative grade point average (GPA) and at least a 67% completion rate on all hours attempted at Austin Community College. 

2.     Students receiving financial aid funds will be expected to complete their ACC educational objective or course of study within a reasonable time frame.  The maximum timeframe is 150% of the published length of the academic program or certificate to include all transfer credit.  Students exceeding this limit may submit an appeal.  An appeal must include an evaluation of all transcripts and an ACC degree plan approved by the appropriate academic department. 

3.     Satisfactory progress will be assessed at the end of each semester. 

4.     The Director of Student Assistance is responsible for establishing procedures for monitoring satisfactory academic progress in adherence with federal regulations, pursuant to the Code of Federal Regulations, Title 34, Part 668.16(3). 

5.     The Student Financial Aid Office is responsible for providing students with accurate information on academic progress criteria and procedures for financial aid students. 

6.     A student who has been denied assistance due to failure to maintain satisfactory academic progress may first appeal to the Campus Financial Aid Appeals Committee and then to the Director of Student Assistance. Final appeal is to the Vice President, Student Support and Success Systems.
