Becky Villarreal

In 1985, Becky earned a B.S. in Education at Texas A&M University and an M.A. in English at Angelo State University in 1996. Currently, she is working on her Doctorate of Education with a specialization in Online Teaching and Training at Capella University and is ABD.
For the past decade, Becky has taught English (composition and literature) at the community college level, primarily in an online setting. Becky is an Instructional Associate at Cypress where she tutors in the Learning Lab.

Becky spearheaded an effort at the Texas Legislature to allow long serving adjunct faculty in community colleges to obtain health insurance by joining each college's group plan. Today that bill is a state law. Read more about this achievement in the attached news article.

As your secretary, Becky hopes to improve communication between the AFA and adjuncts by updating the website, adding more adjuncts to the AFA listserv, posting meeting minutes, publishing 3-4 newsletters each long semester and one in the summer, etc. Please email her at bvillarr@austincc.edu if you have any suggestions for the website, listserv, newsletter, or AFA in general.
