Mary
Gilmer has been a Mathematics professor at ACC for 12 years. She
earned a B.S. in Mathematics from Southwest Texas State University
(SWT) in 1992. In 1994, she earned an M.Ed. in Mathematics from
SWT. Prior to teaching at ACC, she taught at SWT in Mathematics
and Developmental Mathematics, and at Kirby Hall School in Algebra
II and PreCal. Mary is married and has a son currently attending
ACC. Some of you may find him in your classes. She is very happy
to serve as AFA President this year and looks forward to next
year as AFA Past President.
As president, she would like to take a moment to thank adjunct
professors for all of the hard work that is done at ACC and in
the community and remind them that ALL adjuncts are members of
AFA. President Gilmer has two goals in mind for AFA this year.
As adjuncts, we want to continue to promote student success to
fulfill the college goal in the "closing the gaps" initiative,
and we want to improve communication for adjunct professors.
In keeping with our theme of promoting student success, AFA will
sponsor professional development activities that will assist adjunct
professors in achieving greater student success in the classroom.
