Dance Department Overview
Based on a conservatory,
modern dance model, ACC’s Dance Department trains both beginning and experienced
dancers in the fundamentals on contemporary dance. Several of ACC faculty members also
manage their own private dance companies, who perform regularly in Austin. With classes
in ballet, jazz, modern, and improvisational dance and in choreography, the department
is home of many of Austin’s serious, young dancers, who will later transfer to four–year
university programs across the nation. In fact, several of ACC’s former students currently
serve on the faculty of prestigious programs. ACC features the choreography and dance work of
its students in Fall and Spring and showcases. The course History and Appreciation of Dance
is part of the core–curriculum requirements Please visit the
department’s web site
for more information, including course descriptions, degree plans, and a gallery of
performances.
