Award–winning satirist Neal Pollack is bringing his “Alternadad” universe to Austin Community College on Thursday, October 16.
The former Austinite will read from his work starting at 7 p.m. in the Mainstage Theatre of the Rio Grande Campus, 1212 Rio Grande Ave. The event is free and open to the public.
“We’re thrilled he’s coming to ACC,” says Gail Folkins, Creative Writing Department interim chair. “It’s a great opportunity for students and our friends in the community to meet a writer of his caliber.”
Pollack is the author of four books and was named Hot Writer by Rolling Stone magazine in 2000. His most recent work, Alternadad, details his early parenthood attempts to be a cool father and raise a cool kid. Warner Bros. has bought movie rights to the memoir.
Reviewers have described Pollack’s work as “bracingly honest,” “amusingly cranky,” “manic tongue–in–cheek,” and “laugh–out–loud funny.”
