Philosophy Department Overview

ACC’s Philosophy department is a large and vigorous department, serving nearly 6,000 students a year from Round Rock to Fredericksburg. ACC is one of the few community colleges in the nation to offer an associate’s degree in philosophy, and we currently have about fifty philosophy majors enrolled in the college. In addition, the department offers courses in humanities and religion. The department hosts a variety of events for students and faculty, including occasional lectures on various topics in philosophy and current faculty research. The department sponsors a number of major projects, including a lecture series on frontiers in knowledge and the Ethics Resource Center Lectures. This year, Ethics Resource Center joins with its community partners to host a series of lectures concerning ethical issues in immigration policy. Please visit the department’s web site for more information, including course descriptions, degree plans, faculty and student information.
