Lab 1

Do the following in the first lab. For each lab send me an email using pine with the Lab number as the subject.

Using your assigned account, login into the UNIX system.
Change your password using passwd.
Display your account information using finger.
Change your account information using chfn.
Just enter your name, other information just leave blank.
Do an ls -l of your directory. How many files and directories do you have?
Do a ps. Redirect the output to a file called myps.
Do a wc on myps. How many lines and characters are in the file?
Generate a calendar for September 1752. Do you notice anything unusual about this month?
Run a finger command. How many users are logged on?
Using pine send me an email message with an interesting fact about yourself. Make sure the subject of the messages is "1".
