to Students Requesting Permission to Enroll in Closed Classes
Instructors do not have the
authority to add students to their closed classes, and we do not know exactly
how many people are actually enrolled.
My only source of information regarding class enrollment is the public
information on the website, www.austin.cc.tx.us/schedule. It is never perfectly accurate during
registration periods because there is always some lag time between the adding
and dropping of classes and the posting of the new information on the web. It is not humanly possible for the person who
updates the web site to match the speed of all the phone lines processing
registration or adds and drops. Your
best bet is probably to get up very early on the first day of adds and drops
and attempt to enroll via the telephone.
Sometimes a few spots open up at this time because students who have not
paid their tuition bills are automatically “bombed” from the class.
The only person who can allow
students to enroll in English classes that are closed is our Department Chair,
Joe Lostracco. He does so only if
the student enroll in the course in order to graduate from ACC at the end of
the current semester. If you would like
to contact him, his phone number is 223-3234, his email address is lostracc@austincc.edu, and his office
is in Room 204 in the
Good luck, and I hope you get to
enroll in my class. If you do, please
email me immediately. If you don’t.
please consider enrolling in my class next semester. I teach English 2327 every semester and
English 1301 almost every semester. I
teach English 1302 less frequently. Always register as early as possible,
especially if you want to enroll in an online course; these fill up at the
speed of light. It is not unusual for my
web courses to fill during the first day of registration. And if you are fortunate enough to
register for an online course, make certain you pay your bill by the
deadline. ACC automatically “bombs”
everyone who does not pay his or her bill on time, and it is almost impossible
to reregister for a high demand course such as these.
