Expansion of the Austin Community College District to include all territory contained within the boundaries
of McDade Independent School District (McDade ISD) would result in the following property tax rate, services, and programs for McDade ISD residents. As required by Texas Education Code Section 130.065(c), ACC hereby publishes this service plan for the territory considering annexation.
- A current maintenance and operation tax rate of $0.09 per $100 assessed property valuation.
- ACC also collects $0.0051 per $100 assessed property valuation for debt service on facilities bonds
- ACC's maximum maintenance and operations tax rate cannot exceed $0.09 without voter approval
- Total Tax Rate = $0.0951
- Homestead Exemption = $5,000
- Senior or Disabled Exemption = $115,000 plus $5,000 regular Homestead Exemption = Total: $120,000 Exemption
- Eligibility to vote in elections of the ACC governing Board of Trustees.
- Full student support services, including advising, admissions and records, academic counseling, career counseling, financial aid, and student life.
- In-district tuition for all McDade ISD residents. For 2010-11, in-district ACC tuition is $42 per credit hour. The 2010-11 out-of-district ACC tuition is $150 per credit hour. For example, ACC students from McDade ISD currently pay $450 in tuition ($498 with fees) for a 3-credit hour course while in-district students pay $126 in tuition ($174 with fees) for the same course.
- Access to degrees or certificates in more than 235 areas.
- Comprehensive and specific workforce training programs in more than 100 workforce education degrees, including agriculture programs (e.g., Veterinary Technician, Animal Science, Environmental Science, Land Management, or others), and Graphics Design/Visual Communications/Digital Media-Based Programs. Applied Technologies (e.g., Building Construction, Welding, and others) may be offered in partnership with local school districts. In a later phase, Transportation/Logistics Support may be offered and certain entry-level health programs may be offered in shared hospital or other facilities.
- "Access" programs such as English-as-a-Second Language (ESL), GED, and Adult Basic Education to prepare people for entering college credit programs.
- Customized training to assist businesses and organizations in their employee training.
- More than 90 entry-level, job-training programs that can be completed in one year or less.
