When are the Learning Labs open?

All Learning Labs are open Monday - Friday. Cypress, Eastview, Northridge, Riverside and South Austin are also open on weekends. Please see our hours of operation for specific operating hours.

Where are the SI sessions held?

SI sessions are held in study rooms in the learning labs, or vacant classrooms, or any other student study areas on campus.

What is in it for me?

Some of the positive results of SI have been that faculty have reported such experiences as more interaction with students in class, high participation rates, less distractions during lectures. One negative is that the teacher is not allowed to attend the SI sessions or know who is attending. This is for both the student and the faculty member.� Some students are afraid to ask questions of teachers.� For the faculty member, not knowing allows a blind result for the statistics, and extra credit cannot be given to skew the grades.

What extra work is required of faculty for SI?

Faculty members are required to accomplish 3 tasks. First, meet with the SI leader when the leader has questions. Secondly, send grades from their first test to the SI Coordinator. Lastly, faculty members are asked to complete an evaluation form at the end of the semester.� Other than that, nothing is required of faculty.
