Student Chapter at Austin Community College

Welcome to the student chapter of the American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE), sponsored by the Architectural and Engineering Computer Aided Design (A&E CAD) department at Austin Community College in Austin Texas. This chapter is a member of the national organization, founded in 1893. ASEE is a nonprofit organization of individuals and institutions committed to furthering education in engineering and engineering technology.

Any current or former A&E CAD student at ACC is eligible to become a member of the ACC Student Chapter. There is no membership fee. To join, send email to Trang Ong to be added to the ASEE electronic mailing list. Members are notified by email when an ASEE event is planned.

You can also join the national organization at ASEE Membership. The student membership fee is $20 per year and includes a subscription to the ASEE Prism magazine.

Since its inception in 2005, Barkitecture has become an Austin favorite! Hosted by Animal Lovers of Austin, Inc., a 501(c)3 organization, and the 2nd Street District, this architectural dog-centric fundraiser showcases doghouses created by some of Austin’s best and brightest architects, designers and builders. Attendees will have the opportunity to bid on these unique doghouses, play at the 'pup-stop', learn more about adoption opportunities from local area rescue groups, shop at local vendor booths, enjoy a Winter Wear Fashound Show and more. Family and Dog Friendly. Free to the Public.

Our Mission

The Austin Community College Student Chapter is an organization of students and faculty committed to furthering education in engineering design graphics. The mission shall be accomplished by providing services to prepare members for a career in engineering design graphics, and encouraging involvement of underrepresented minority groups in academia.

Our Purpose The purpose of the Austin Community College Student Chapter of ASEE is to:
  • expand the opportunities for A&E CAD education offered at ACC
  • assist students in their search for employment
  • provide mentoring to A&E CAD students
  • encourage underrepresented minority participation
About ASEE Student Chapters

ASEE has numerous Student Chapters. The general mission of the chapters is to:

  • develop relationships with local schools (K-12) and aid them in fostering student interest in future careers and study in engineering and engineering technology.
  • encourage engineering undergraduate students to continue their studies on the graduate level.
  • increase the interest of engineering graduate students in careers in engineering education.
  • assist and encourage minorities and women to study and seek careers in the fields of engineering and engineering technology. Each chapter works toward these goals through a variety of activities including newsletters, seminars, workshops, and conferences.
  • promote scholarships, fellowships, and post-doctoral opportunities for ASEE student members
  • provide opportunities for students to gain insight into academic careers and teaching practices
