Dr. Alice Sessions is Professor of Biology and Assistant Department Chair at ACC. Dr. Sessions obtained her Ph.D. in Biology from Johns Hopkins University for work on membrane cholesterol and was a post-doctoral fellow at The University of Pennsylvania Medical School researching membrane lipid asymmetry. In 1989 she obtained a Master of Arts in Teaching degree from Boston University with a subspecialty in science education. She has been at ACC since 1990 and has taught courses in the Chemistry, Biotechnology, and Education Instruction Departments.
In addition to teaching, Dr. Sessions has participated or led sixteen grants from the National Science Foundation, the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board and ACC. She is a graduate of the ACC Academy and serves on the college-wide College Readiness Standards Committee and as a faculty coach for the Student Success Initiative. She is collaborating with St. Edwards University on a grant to provide ACC graduates with up to $31,000 in scholarship funds to become math or science teachers
