The BACT was established to serve the needs of the Austin business community by providing Work keys assessments, performance-based assessments, THEA computerized tests and VALPAR hands-on assessments. After a down turn in the local economy, Work Keys and other business assessments experienced a continuous decline. New assessment directions were developed to help broaden the range of services provided. Testing for other educational institutions, along with business and industry (to include international agencies) were added. GED testing as well as computerized testing were also new additions. In 2002, Austin Community College was selected by ACT as one of five colleges in the United States to operate as an ACT Testing Center. Since that time high stakes licensure exams have increased each year. Computerized testing has increased with each year the center is in business.
Mission Statement
