Students Must Bring The Following Items On Registration Day
Identity and eligibility of all candidates must be verified by inspecting each candidate's identification documents. Acceptable forms of identification are current government issued identification (state, national or foreign) i.e. State of Texas Driver's License, DPS ID, Passport, Military ID or an ID issued by a foreign government.
Social Security Card
A student must be at least 18 years old and be officially withdrawn from school to take the GED exam with the following exceptions:
17 year olds must bring "Parent / Guardian Consent / Administration Withdrawal Form" (No student can register for the GED Exam unless they are withdrawn from school and the withdrawal form must be presented on the day of registration!) This form can be downloaded from our web page or picked up at our office. An applicant who is 17 years of age and married, who has entered military service, who has been declared an adult by the court, or who has otherwise legally severed the child/parent relationship is not required to present parent or guardian permission to be tested. Students who have been home schooled or students who have just moved to this area must go to the school in their area where they would have been required to attend for a withdrawal form!
16 year olds can only test if recommended by a public agency that has supervision or custody under court order, in a Job Corps training program, or ordered by a Justice or municipal court in a truancy case. The recommendation must be in writing and include the applicant's name and date of birth and must be signed by an official of that public agency. Judges may recommend 16 year olds if the Judge is acting in lieu of a probation officer.
