The scale method is part of Ericson's library.
However, it is not included on the CD in the back of my copy of her textbook.
It is included in the zip file named bookClasses10-1-07.zip (or possibly a later version) which can be downloaded from Ericson's website.
(You should be able to Google the file name to get the download URL.)
