Construction Gateway Program

Construction Gateway is a five-week adult-training program in the construction trades for unemployed, underemployed, homeless and formerly incarcerated residents of Travis County.The program is conducted at the Riverside campus. To date, 80 percent of the more than 800 Gateway graduates have found jobs or continued their education.


Gateway tuition is FREE to the students who qualify. 

 

A number of local organizations and individuals provide the funding for the program.

Students receive hands-on training in carpentry, electrical, rigging, plumbing, sheet metal, and masonry work. Upon successful completion of the program a Gateway Graduate receives:

  • 9 Hours college credit in Marketable Skills at Austin Community College
  • Associated Builders & Contractors (ABC) industry apprenticeship credit
  • Red Cross Certificates for CPR/AED and First Aid Training
  • OSHA certification in Construction Safety
  • ABC Certificate of Completion
  • Associated General Contractors (AGC) Certificate of Completion
  • Job Placement Assistance
