I started my journey in metals as a child with my father working on projects that involved welding, machining and fabrication. This interest soon developed into a passion for all things mechanical.

In my late teens and through my mid twenties I worked at various machine and fab shops as a machinist , welder and assembler. I then landed a job as the principal GTAW welder for a machine shop that supplied ion implanters for Eaton Corp. The job required close tolerances with my weld fit-ups and precise vacuum mass spectrometer leak detection of the weldment.

In 1994 I decided to go back to school and get a degree in Welding Technology and was offered a position in the Art Metals program. While working in the department I was able to receive multiple certificates and a degree in Code Welding as well as becoming and Certified Welding Inspector and receiving a welding certification in GTAW.

I have worked with Master Metalsmith Wendell Broussard and have twice studied Coppersmithing in Santa Clara Del Cobre, Mexico.

I developed and taught a Coppersmithing course for the Sculpture Academy of Austin and I am currently an adjunct professor of Coppersmithing and Art Metals for the Welding Department. In addition, I am employed as a Senior Lab Assistant for the Welding and Building and Construction Technology Departments at Austin Community College.
