COURSE DESCRIPTION:

 

This is a beginning course in the study of fashion merchandising within the free enterprise system.  The course is designed to blend both concepts and applications from the field of fashion.  Topics include the evolution of fashion, the consumer's interaction with the market, production and acquisition of raw materials, an introduction to the textile industry, an overview of fashion accessories, and the buying and selling functions within the field of fashion merchandising.

 

Class format:

 

*     Lecture

 

*     Internet access is required.

 

*      Mandatory Blackboard Orientation during the first week of class. 

 

 

Getting started:

 

*                When you register for this course you will receive a student ID number.  This number will allow you to go to Blackboard at http://itdl.austincc.edu/blackboard/stlogin.htm and log into the section you are enrolled in and you will be able to complete your MANDATORY orientation.  The orientation quiz can be found by clicking on Assignments in  Blackboard.
