The Arts and Humanities Division at Austin Community College is proud to join with the National Endowment of the Arts in sponsoring The Big Read in Austin, Texas. From September 15th to November 2nd, we are encouraging and supporting the reading of The Big Read selection Sun, Stone, and Shadows: Twenty Great Mexican Short Stories, edited by Jorge F. Hernandez. We are sponsoring events for adults, teens, and children on our campuses, at the Mexican American Cultural Center, at Austin Public Library sites, in various Austin area schools, and at Lorraine “Grandma” Camacho Recreation Center. We are especially pleased to be able to partner with so many wonderful organizations in our city. Please join us as we celebrate Mexico’s great and rich cultural heritage in Texas.
