SUBJECT: Edwina Fredlund Traverso Memorial Scholarship Fund

The Edwina Fredlund Traverso Scholarship Endowment was established in the Spring of 1992. It honors the memory of an Austin graphic artist who was an ACC part-time commercial art instructor from 1980 to 1991. Ms. Fredlund Traverso died of cancer in May 1992. This is the fifth annual scholarship award. Applications are judged by a three person subcommittee of the Commercial Art Department's Industry Advisory Committee.

The Edwina Fredlund Traverso Scholarship aims to reward academic achievement, recognize individual accomplishment, and assist deserving students to complete the course work for the Associate of Applied Science in Commercial Art.

The 1998 recipient is Ann Kennedy. Ms. Kennedy is a non-traditional student with a BA in Chinese Language and Literature from University of Texas-Austin from 1978 and has returned to school recently. Ms. Kennedy began studies at ACC in the Commercial Art Department as a full-time student in the Spring of 1997. She also maintains a private practice in message therapy.

Ms. Kennedy has already won two Addy awards from the Austin Advertising Federation. The awards were for her logo and brochure design projects. She hopes to complete her degree and find employment as a graphic designer.
