SUBJECT: Proposed New Board Policy on Employee Compensation

PROPOSED ACTION

That the Board discuss the topic of a policy on compensation principles in a work-session format.

RELATED BOARD POLICY OR RESOLUTION

This will be a new Board policy.

RATIONALE

A compensation policy would provide the administration and the Board with general principles for making budgetary decisions on employee compensation, instead of making such decisions on a purely ad hoc basis.

BUDGETARY CONSIDERATIONS

The budgetary impact depends on the nature of the policy enacted.
