SUBJECT: Biotechnology at EVC

As a result of the discussion at the Board of Trustees' Committee of the Whole meeting on January 19, the College is investigating the appropriate location of the Biotechnology Program in the College with the desire of locating the program at the Eastview Campus beginning in the fall 1999. Faculty and staff are reviewing facilities and equipment needs for the new program: estimates, unique to EVC, include $100,000 for equipment and up to $50,000 for converting a classroom to a Biotechnology lab prep-room. These costs will be reviewed as part of the FY2000 college budget process, and compared against other budget priorities.

I remain hopeful that satisfactory arrangements will be made to establish the Biotechnology program one of the premier attractions of the new ACC Eastview Campus.
