Agenda Item 7086
May 17, 1999
SUBJECT: Discussion of Draft Policies on Recruitment and Student Goal Completion
PROPOSED ACTION:
That trustees give preliminary discussion to draft policies on Recruitment and Student Goal Completion.
RELATED BOARD POLICY OR RESOLUTION:
These topics were identified as 1999 policy-development priorities by Board vote in November 1998.
RATIONALE:
The draft proposals are intended to provide a vehicle for the Board to state its expectations for how the College will fulfill its mission by recruiting students who need its services and acting to Support their efforts to define and reach their educational goals.
The primary goal for this initial discussion is to identify any significant omissions in the scope of the policy, so that the draft can be extended if needed. Further committee discussion will then be held.
Some minor modifications of the original drafts, including the division of the recruitment topic into a policy of its own, have been made in response to initial suggestions from Dr. Fonte.
BUDGETARY CONSIDERATIONS:
Compliance with such a policy would probably require significant increases in the resources applied to these areas. These resources would be allocated via the planning and budget processes.
