SUBJECT: Replacement Plan - Computers

PROPOSED ACTION
The Board of Trustees approve the leasing of computers from Dell Computer Corporation for instructional labs.

RELATED BOARD POLICY
This item is consistent with Board Policy C-10, Purchasing.

RATIONALE
Instructional labs are in ACC's three-year replacement plan. Leasing computers for these labs is more cost effective than purchasing them because Dell Computer Corporation handles all maintenance of computers for the leasing term. This signifies that computers designated for instruction will be on a 24 hour replacement schedule.

BUDGET CONSIDERATION
$250,000 for leasing of computers is included in the technology plan for FY2000.
