SUBJECT: Consideration of Spring 2000 Policy-Development Priorities

PROPOSED ACTION:
That Trustees consider, and adopt after any desired amendments, the proposed statement of policy-development priorities.

RELATED BOARD POLICY OR RESOLUTION:
The adoption of a priority list is called for by Policy B-5, Policy Development.

RATIONALE:
The proposed statement on policy-development priorities for Spring 2000 is intended to reflect the input from the Board at the October and November work sessions. It should be amended as needed to reflect current Board opinion about appropriate policy-development goals for the next six months.

The proposed list focuses on the general policy review that was on the 1999 list. In addition to proposing a set of criteria by which existing policies should be evaluated, it identifies some particular policy provisions that have been mentioned by trustees as areas for potential revision. It also mentions the potential development of a more unified Board calendar and report structure.

Another priority listed is the development of a policy on the use of citizen committees to provide advice to the Board and/or College.

BUDGETARY CONSIDERATIONS:
This item does not have a significant direct budgetary impact.
