SUBJECT: Developmental Education Plan

PROPOSED ACTION:

That the Board of Trustees review the draft Developmental Education Plan

RELATED BOARD POLICY OR RESOLUTION:

D-4 Principles for Assessment, Placement and Developmental Courses

RATIONALE:

Each institution of higher education must adopt a developmental education plan for the assessment and placement of undergraduate students entering the institution. Each plan must be approved by the institution's governing board. This plan is brought forward for review and adoption prior to being submitted to the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board.

BUDGETARY CONSIDERATIONS:

This developmental education plan will have a budgetary impact especially as it relates to computer mediated instructional technology changes. Computer mediated instruction is a major component of developmental education.
