Tour - Board
of Trustees
In
accordance with the terms and provisions of the Texas Open Meetings Act,
Chapter 551 of Texas Government Code, the Board of Trustees of the Austin
Community College District convened in public session on Monday, September 23,
2002, at the construction site of the Health Careers Building of Eastview
Campus of Austin Community College located at 3101 Webberville Road, Austin,
Texas, with the following members present: Rafael Quintanilla/Presiding
Officer; Barbara Mink, Vice Chair; John Hernandez; Allen Kaplan; and John
Worley.
It is
further found and determined that in accordance with the policies and orders of
this Board, the notice of this meeting has been posted and return thereof made
pursuant to the terms and provisions of the Texas Open Meetings Act, Chapter
551 of the Texas Government Code, and there has been full compliance with the
terms and provisions of said act, including the timely posting of the subjects
of this meeting.
Bronson
Dorsey, Associate Vice President for Facilities and Operations, led a tour of
the construction of the Health Careers Buildings. He stated that the Phase I building is approximately 71,000
square feet and will house the nursing programs, surgical technology, and
radiology programs. Construction on
Phase I is expected to be completed on July 1, 2003. Moving the furniture and equipment for the programs from the
Riverside Campus to the new building will occur following the finish date and
is expected to take seven weeks. Phase
I of the Health Career Buildings will be open and available to receive students
in the Fall of 2003.
Phase
II of the Health Careers Buildings will house the following programs: Laboratory Technican, Sonography, Emergency
Medical Services, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, and Pharmacy
Technician.
Mr.
Cory Wilson, Project Manager, Faulkner Construction Company, provided
additional information concerning the site and construction. Mr. Dorsey and Mr. Wilson responded to
questions from Trustees.
Trustees
expressed appreciation to Mr. Dorsey and Mr. Wilson for the informative tour.
Adjournment
The
September 23, 2002, tour of the construction of the Health Career Buildings was
completed at 5:40 p.m.
