In accordance with the terms and
provisions of the Texas Open Meetings Act, Chapter 551 of Texas Government
Code, the Board of Trustees of the Austin Community College District convened
in public session on Monday, November 17, 2008, at 6:15 p.m. in the Multi-Purpose
Room of Building 8500 of the Eastview Campus of the Austin Community College District
located at
Others present were: Ms. Mary E. Bradshaw, President, Ms. Carolyn
Nelson and Mr. Jason Dishongh, Leander Chamber of Commerce; Mr. Richard
Schneider, Buda Area Chamber of Commerce; Ms. Karen Duncan, Austin Community
College District, Pflugerville Chamber of Commerce, and African American
Chamber of Commerce; Mr. Hollis Bone, Round Rock Chamber of Commerce; Ms.
Blanca Zamora-Garcia, Greater Austin Hispanic Chamber of Commerce; Mr. Tim Merriweather;
Mr. Art Huck, Austin Area Asian Chamber of Commerce; Ms. Candie Cook,
Pflugerville Chamber of Commerce; Ms. Dora L. Cantu, Greater Austin Hispanic
Chamber of Commerce; Dr. Stephen B. Kinslow, ACC President/CEO; and Ms. Linda
Young, ACC Special Assistant to the President for External Affairs.
It is further found and
determined that in accordance with the policies and orders of this Board, the
notice of this meeting has been posted and return thereof made pursuant to the
terms and provisions of the Texas Open Meetings Act, Chapter 551 of the Texas
Government Code, and th-re has been full compliance with the terms and
provisions of said act, including the timely posting of the subjects of this
meeting.
DISCUSSION AND POSSIBLE ACTION

Board Community Forum with Area Chambers of Commerce
Chair Nan McRaven welcomed participants
to the Forum and invited participation in the discussion. Trustees and chamber representatives introduced
themselves. Chair McRaven provided
information on the creation and history of the Austin Community College
District and provided an update on ACC today, and the impact of community colleges
on
Dr. Stephen B. Kinslow provided an
overview of the Texas Association of Community Colleges and ACC legislative priorities.
Board Vice Chair
Participants
discussed legislative priorities in their communities and ways in which ACC
could work with their chambers on the legislative priorities.
Chair McRaven
expressed appreciation to the participants for the valuable information
provided and encouraged participants to contact the President’s Office
regarding the need for additional meetings in the communities.

Adjournment
Having no motion before the Board, the
November 17, 2008, Forum of the Austin Community College District Board of Trustees
was adjourned at 7:25 p.m.
