Schedule for Spring-2000 ACC Board policy-review process (marked * if completed)

*December 6 -- Board adopted a general policy review as a policy-development priority
*March 1 -- posting/publishingof initial trustee comments from policy-review worksheets
*March 16 - posting/publishing of minor/editorial-change draft proposal (see summary)
*March 27 -- deadline for submission of "substantial change" revision proposals
*March 29 -- posting/publishing of substantial-change draft proposal (see summary)
*April 3 - introduce substantial-change proposals in Board agenda materials
*April 10 - deadline for submission of alternative proposals for April 17 agenda
*April 17 - preliminary approval of minor/editorial changes, discussion of substantial changes
*April 24 - deadline for submission of revisions/amendments to selections for May 1 agenda
*May 1 - final Board consideration of most policy-review changes

s Systematic insignificant grammatical changes ("which" to "that", "will" to "shall")
s Rearrangement of "Results to Be Produced" section to reduce overlap and improve readability
s Rewording of Board policy principles, realignment of some provisions with policy-governance concepts
s Specification of frequency of policy updates/reviews, reference to composite-draft policy development
s Have administration announce a schedule for policy-compliance and program-review reports
s Deletion of outdated time-specific policy provisions, and provisions overruled by later policies
s Rearrangement to collect planning-related provisions in Master Planning policy
s Revision of tuition policy to reflect recent decisions, and to clarify language
s Replacement of investment policy by more concise wording reflecting current investment practices
s Rearrangement to collect benefits-related provisions into one policy
s Replacement of some travel-related directives by requirement for an annual report
s Generalization of provisions on employee tuition exemption
