The Board adopts a set of policy-development topics every six months as part of its
work plan, and conducts a comprehensive review of its policies every two years. Suggested policy changes may be directed to any Trustee or to the College President. Policy development activities are coordinated by the Board Chair. The policies on
Board Policy Principles and
Policy Development and Revision give more details on the
policy model used at the College.
Note that Board actions focus on providing strategic direction to the College, not detailed rules. Most ACC rules for employees and students are administrative or academic rules and procedures established by the administration or faculty to implement these strategic policies adopted by the Board. Consult the appropriate College offices, manuals, or web sites for such rules, which are not directly considered by the Board.
