ACC Scholarships

Unless otherwise noted the scholarships below are available to students who have earned a GED or high school diploma.

Accounting Program

Irwin Fine Scholarship

Purpose:  To assist students enrolled in the ACC Accounting program.

Amount:  The number of awards and the dollar amount will be based on the funds available.

Criteria:

  • Accounting major at ACC.
  • Submit an essay of no more than 300 words explaining career goals and how an accounting degree at ACC will assist in achieving your goals.
  • Submit 2 letters of recommendation.  At least one should be from an ACC instructor.  At least one should be from an accounting instructor (any institution).  The instructors' telephone numbers should be included.
  • Enrolled as an ACC student in good standing and hold a GPA of at least 3.0 for all courses taken at ACC within the last three years.  Only courses taken at ACC during the last three years will be considered in awarding the scholarship.
  • Professional Accountant and Accounting Specialist majors must have successfully completed both ACCT 2301 and ACCT 2302 (or their equivalents); and Accounting Technician and Accounting Clerk majors must have successfully completed ACNT 1403 (or its equivalent) by May for the Fall  award and by December for the Spring award.  Successful completion is evidenced by a grade of a C or better.

Terms of Scholarship:

  • Recipient must maintain a grade of C or better during semester of the award.
  • Scholarship only applies to tuition, fees, and books.
  • Scholarship awarded for one semester.
  • Student must enroll in at least one accounting course during the semester of the award.
  • Re-application necessary each year.

Ward-Fuller Scholarship

Purpose: To assist students enrolled in the ACC Accounting program.

Amount: The number of awards and the dollar amount will be based on the funds available.

Criteria:
  • Minimum 2.5 GPA in all college work.
  • Financial need (as determined by the ACC Financial Aid Office).

Terms of Scholarship:

  • Successfully complete a minimum of six hours with a 2.5 GPA.
  • Scholarship applies to tuition, fees, and books.
  • Scholarship must be used within one academic year.
  • Re-application necessary each academic year.

Application Deadline: May 1st of each year

Adult Education Program

Peierls Foundation Scholarship

Purpose: To assist students who have received their GED through the ACC Adult Education Program.

Amount: $1000 for tuition, fees and books.

Criteria:
  • An applicant near completion of GED testing may apply for a scholarship, but will not be awarded the scholarship until notification of successful GED completion.
  • Must present a valid photo ID to confirm eligibility.
Terms of Scholarship:
  • Successfully complete a minimum of six hours with a 2.0 GPA.
  • Enroll in a one hour College Success Course.
  • May be used for any program at ACC that leads to a certificate or associate degree.
  • Attend a required Peierls Orientation and take the TCOM college entrance exam,
  • Recipients must turn in a Progress Report each semester on scholarship and maintain contact with the Student Outreach Specialist on a monthly basis,

A&E Computer Aided Design Program

Tommy Cowan Endowed Scholarship

Purpose: To provide recognition and financial assistance to ACC students enrolled in the Architectural  and Engineering Computer Aided Design, Architectural Specialization associate degree program.

Amount: The number of awards and the dollar amount will be based on the funds available.

Criteria:
  • Registered in the Architectural Specialization Associate Degree program.
  • Minimum 3.5 GPA in all college work.
  • Completed DFTG 1405, Technical Drafting and DFTG, 2419 Intermediate Computer-Aided Design with a minimum grade of a B.
  • Financial need (as determined by the ACC Financial Aid Office).
Terms of Scholarship:
  • Enroll and complete a minimum of 6 hours with a 3.0 GPA each semester while on scholarship.
  • Coursework taken while on scholarship must be on degree plan for program or approved by Department Chair.
  • Scholarship applies to tuition, fees, and books.
  • Scholarship must be used within one academic year.
  • Re-application necessary each academic year.

American Sign Language and Interpreter Training Program

American Sign Language and Interpreter Training Program Scholarship

Purpose: To assist students enrolled in the ASL and Interpreter Training Program at ACC.

Amount: $500 for tuition, fees, and books and interpreter related fees.                           

Criteria:
  • Enrolled in Associate of Applied Science degree in the ASL and Interpreter Training Program at ACC.
  • Completion of a minimum of 15 hours credit coursework at ACC with a minimum GPA of 3.0 including SLNG 2401 with a grade of B or better.
  • Submit a 2-minute long video presentation in ASL addressing why you have chosen to enter the field of interpreting. (Preference is .mov format).  Please submit to aslterp@austincc.edu. Contact Emily Anderson (512-223-3208) if you have questions.
  • Financial need (as determined by the ACC Financial Aid Office).
Terms of Scholarship:
  • Enroll in at least nine hours while on scholarship and earn a minimum semester GPA of 3.0.
  • Enroll in at least one interpreting course while on scholarship.
  • Scholarship must be used within the academic year it was awarded.

Applied Science Programs

Assistance League Scholarships

Purpose: To assist students enrolled in an Applied Science program at ACC.

Amount: The number of awards and the dollar amount will be based on the funds available.

  • Minimum 2.0 GPA in high school or college or submit a GED.
  • Register in an Applied Science certificate or degree program at ACC.
  • Financial need (as determined by ACC Financial Aid Office).

Terms of Scholarship:

  • Accept a mentor from Assistance League® of Austin.
  • Scholarship will apply to tuition, fees, and books up to the designated amount.
  • Submit degree plan.
  • Enroll in and successfully complete a minimum of six hours on degree plan with a 2.0 GPA each semester while on scholarship.
  • Scholarship must be used within one academic year.
  • A student may re-take a course one time while on scholarship.  The scholarship will not pay for any course a student enrolls in three or more times.
  • If student is awaiting acceptance to an Applied Sciences program and has completed the required pre-requisite courses, the student may take courses applicable to a baccalaureate degree with the following conditions:    
  • Student must provide degree plan from intended college or university to ensure the coursework is applicable for their desired 4 year degree.
  • Student may take up to two semesters of coursework toward a baccalaureate degree while waiting admission to an ACC Applied Science program. Student will not receive scholarship funds for more than two semesters of coursework not on their ACC degree plan.

Purpose: To assist students enrolled in an Applied Science program at Austin Community College.

  • Register in an Applied Science certificate or degree program at ACC.
  • Financial need (as determined by ACC Financial Aid Office).

Assistance League - Topfer Family Foundation Scholarship

Purpose:    To assist students enrolled in an Applied Science program at Austin Community College.

Amount:     The number of awards and the dollar amount will be based on the funds available.

Criteria:

 

  • 2.0 GPA in high school or college or submit a GED.
  • Register in an Applied Science certificate or degree program at ACC.
  • Financial need (as determined by ACC Financial Aid Office).

Terms of Scholarship:

  • Submit degree plan.

Bowman Scholarship

Purpose: To assist single women with dependents pursuing education that will result in either an associate of applied science degree or certificate.

Amount: The number of awards and the dollar amount will be based on the funds available.

Criteria:

  • Minimum 2.0 GPA overall.
  • Financial need (as determined by the ACC Financial Aid Office).

Terms of Scholarship:

  • Successfully complete a minimum of six hours with a 2.0 GPA each semester.
  • Scholarship applies to tuition, fees, and books.
  • Scholarship must be used within one academic year.
  • Re-application necessary each academic year.

Rourke Family Foundation Scholarship

Purpose: To assist widowed or divorced women with dependents pursuing education in a vocational or career area that will result in either an associate of applied science degree or certificate.

Amount: $5000 for tuition, fees and books divided over 2 years.

Criteria:

  • Be widowed or divorced.
  • Have custody of one or more dependents.
  • Registered in a one year certificate or an associate of applied science two year degree program at ACC.
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA in all college work.
  • Be a high school graduate or have a GED.
  • Financial need (as determined by the ACC Financial Aid Office).

Terms of Scholarship:

  • Successfully complete a minimum of nine hours with a 3.0 GPA each semester.

Assistance League $500 Summer Scholarships

Purpose: To assist students enrolled in an Applied Science program at Austin Community College for the summer semester.

Amount: $500 (The number of awards will be based on the funds available.)

Criteria:

  • Financial need (as determined by ACC Financial Aid Office).
  • 2.0 GPA in high school or college or submit a GED.
  • Register in an Applied Science certificate or degree program at ACC.


Terms of Scholarship:

  • Successfully complete a minimum of six hours of summer coursework with a 2.0 GPA.
  • Scholarship applies to tuition, fees, and books.

Art Program

Steve Kramer Endowed Scholarship

Purpose: To assist students enrolled in the ACC Fine Arts program.

Amount: The number of awards and the dollar amount will be based on the funds available.

Criteria:
  • Majoring in Art at ACC.
  • Minimum 2.75 GPA overall.
  • Must have a completion rate of at least 70% on attempted course work at ACC.
  • Financial need (as determined by the ACC Financial Aid Office).
  • Submit a letter of recommendation from a recent art instructor.
  • Submit up to ten hard copy photographs, digital images, or original works in a portfolio.  Slides may be submitted but other methods are preferred.
Terms of Scholarship:
  • Maintain a 2.75 GPA overall while on scholarship.
  • Enroll and complete a minimum of nine hours each semester.
  • Scholarship applies to tuition, fees, books, and art supplies only.
  • May only be used toward a degree or certificate in Fine Arts at ACC.
  • Scholarship must be used within one academic year.
  • Re-application necessary each academic year.

Automotive Program

Automotive Technology Endowed Scholarship

Purpose: To assist students enrolled in ACC Automotive programs.

Amount: The number of awards and the dollar amount will be based on the funds available.

Criteria:
  • Must be pursuing an associate of applied science degree or certificate in the Automotive Technology or Automotive Collision Repair program at ACC.
  • Successfully passed one semester (12 credit hours) of automotive courses.
  • Minimum 2.5 GPA in all college work.
  • Financial need (as determined by the ACC Financial Aid Office).
Terms of Scholarship:
  • Successfully complete courses with a 2.5 GPA.
  • Scholarship applies to tuition, fees, and books.
  • Scholarship must be used within one academic year.
  • Re-application necessary each academic year.

Building Construction Technology Program

Royce & Donna Faulkner Family Endowed Scholarship

Purpose: To assist students enrolled in the ACC Building Construction Technology program.

Amount: The number of awards and the dollar amount will be based on the funds available.

  • Building Construction Technology major at ACC.
  • Minimum 2.5 GPA in all college work.    
  • Financial need (as determined by the ACC Financial Aid Office).

Business Studies

Earl Maxwell Endowed Scholarship

Purpose: To assist students entering the business field through Accounting, Business Administration, Financial Management, Management, or Marketing.  Scholarship named in honor of Earl Maxwell, a founding member of the Austin Community College Foundation and a founding partner in Maxwell Locke & Ritter LLP.

Amount: The number of awards and the dollar amount will be based on the funds available.

Criteria:
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA in all college work.
  • May only be used by students planning to enter the business field through Austin Community College's Associate of Arts Accounting, Business Administration, Financial Management, Management, or Marketing program or transfer to a four year college or university in one of those programs.
  • Financial need (as determined by the ACC Financial Aid Office).
Terms of Scholarship:
  • Enroll and complete a minimum of six hours with a 3.0 GPA each semester while on scholarship.
  • Scholarship applies to tuition, fees, and books.

Child Care & Development

Amanda Hernandez Endowed Scholarship - New

Purpose: To assist students pursuing an associate degree or certificate in Child Development, the Academic CDA Training Program or the Comprehensive Child Development Associate (CDA) Training Program at ACC

Amount:The number of awards and the dollar amount will be based on the funds available

Criteria:
  • Hold a GPA of at least 2.5 in all college work or have earned a high school diploma or GED
  • Financial need (as determined by the ACC Financial Aid Office).
  • Child Development major in the AAS, Child Development Certificate, Academic CDA Training Program or Comprehensive CDA Training Program
Terms of Scholarship:
  • May be used for any program at ACC that leads to a certificate or associate degree or CDA credential in Child Development
  • Successfully complete a minimum of three hours with a 2.5 GPA each semester
  • Scholarship applies to tuition, fees, and books only
  • Scholarship awarded for one academic year
  • Re-application necessary each year

Creative Writing

Creative Writing Scholarship

The deadline for this scholarship is April 15th for fall, November 15th for spring.

Applicants must:

  • Have an overall 3.0 GPA in college work.
  • Completed 15 hours of coursework at ACC.
  • Successfully completed English Composition I (ENGL 1301)
  • To apply, you must complete the Creative Writing Scholarship application available in the Creative Writing Department and attach a cover letter and one prose piece or three poems. In your cover letter, please describe your hopes and dreams about writing as a continuing part of your life. Return the materials to:

Dance & Drama Department

Dance & Drama Department Scholarship

Purpose: To assist students enrolled in the ACC Dance or Drama program.

Criteria:

  • Dance or Drama major.
  • Must have a 3.0 GPA for all college coursework. (A student with a GPA of at least a 2.5 may apply with a recommendation by an instructor.)
  • Completed 12 credit hours at ACC, including two courses in drama and/or dance. Awards are based partly on prior involvement with the Dance and Drama Department for at least one semester.
  • Drama majors must enroll in a minimum of 6-8 hours in Drama coursework. Dance majors must enroll in 4–6 hours in Dance coursework.
  • Audition and interview with at least one member of the Dance and Drama Department faculty.

Terms of Scholarship:

  • Amount of scholarship varies each academic year. Scholarships are awarded on the basis of scholastic merit, artistic promise, and need for financial assistance.
  • Recipient chosen by Dance and Drama Department faculty.
  • Successfully complete a minimum of 6–9 hours for drama or 4–6 hours for dance with a 3.0 GPA.
  • Scholarship applies to tuition, fees, and books.
  • Recipients must sign an agreement stating specific involvement with the Dance and Drama Department for at least one semester. This involvement may be through performance in technical production or in management and administration.

Application Deadline: May 1 for Fall/October 28 for Spring

Boyd Vance Scholarship

Purpose: To assist African-American students enrolling in the ACC Dance or Drama program.

Criteria:
  • Dance or Drama major.
  • Must enroll in nine hours.
  • Must have a high school diploma or GED or 3.0 GPA for all college coursework.
  • Drama majors must enroll in a minimum of 3–6 hours in drama coursework. Dance majors must enroll in 3–6 hours in dance coursework.
  • Audition and interview with at least one member of the Dance and Drama Department faculty.

Terms of Scholarship:
  • Scholarship award will be $1000 over two semesters. Scholarships are awarded on the basis of scholastic merit and artistic promise.
  • Recipient chosen by Dance and Drama Department faculty.
  • Students must successfully complete a minimum of nine hours each semester with a 3.0 GPA while on scholarship. Students coming out of high school or holding a GED who are awarded a scholarship must achieve a 3.0 GPA after their first semester to continue their scholarship for a second semester.
  • Scholarship applies to tuition, fees, and books.
  • Recipients must sign an agreement stating specific involvement with the Dance and Drama Department for at least one semester. This involvement may be through performance, in technical production, or in management and administration.

Application Deadline: May 1st of each year

Performing Arts Scholarship - New

Purpose: To assist students interested in Performing Arts project and /or trip participation.

Amount: The number of awards and the dollar amount will be based on the funds available.

Criteria:
  • Enrolled and successfully complete Dance or Drama course.
  • Minimum 2.0 GPA for all college coursework.
  • Financial need as determined by ACC Financial Aid Office
  • Letter or recommendation from ACC Dance or Drama instructor.
  • Application essay should address your experience in the Dance/Drama Program, past experience in the field and future plans.  Please also address why you are taking part in the project, what you expect to gain from it, and how the scholarship can help you participate.
Terms of Scholarship:
  • Scholarship may only be used for ACC Performing Arts projects and trips.
  • Funds will be not be paid until after June 1st.

Developmental Program

Stasny-Siegmund Scholarship

Purpose: To assist ACC students who have completed at least one developmental course.

Amount: $400 for tuition, fees and books.

Criteria:
  • Completed at least one developmental education course at ACC with a grade of B or better.
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA in all college work.  
Terms of Scholarship:
  • Successfully complete a minimum of six hours with a 3.0 GPA.
  • Scholarship must be used within one academic year.
  • Re-application necessary each academic year.

Diagnostic Radiology Program

Diagnostic Radiology Endowed Scholarship

Purpose: To assist students enrolled in the ACC Diagnostic Radiology Program.

Amount: The number of awards and the dollar amount will be based on the funds available.

Criteria:
  • Minimum 2.5 GPA overall.
  • Financial need (as determined by the ACC Financial Aid Office).
Terms of Scholarship:
  • Successfully complete the required semester hours in the Diagnostic Radiology curriculum with a 2.5 GPA.
  • Scholarship applies to tuition, fees, and books only.
  • Scholarship must be used within one academic year.

Joan Wolf Ort Memorial Scholarship

Purpose: To assist students enrolled in the second year of the ACC Diagnostic Radiology Program.  Joan Ort had an aptitude for patient care, and that strength will be evaluated in the scholarship applications.

Amount: $1000 scholarship for tuition, fees, and books.

Criteria:
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA overall.
  • Financial need (as determined by the ACC Financial Aid Office).
Terms of Scholarship:
  • Successfully complete the required semester hours in the Diagnostic Radiology curriculum with a 3.0 GPA.
  • Scholarship must be used within one academic year.
  • Re-application necessary each academic year.

Education Program

Education Instruction Department Scholarship

Purpose: To provide assistance to students in the ACC Education Instruction Program based on scholastic merit and a passion for teaching.

Amount: The number of awards and the dollar amount will be based on the funds available.

Criteria:
  • Minimum 3.00 GPA in all college work.  
  • May only be used by students planning to enter the teaching field through the Austin Community College Associate of Arts in Teaching program.
  • Successfully completed EDUC 1301 with a "C" or better.
  • Essay should address why you have chosen a career in education.
  • Financial need (as determined by the ACC Financial Aid Office).
  • Possible interview with members of the Education Instruction Department faculty.
Terms of Scholarship:
  • Successfully complete a minimum of six hours with a 3.00 GPA.
  • Scholarship applies to tuition, fees and books.
  • Scholarship must be used within one academic year.
  • Re-application necessary each academic year.

Jo Frances Hill Endowed Scholarship

Purpose: To provide assistance to students studying to become a teacher.

Amount: The number of awards and the dollar amount will be based on the funds available.

Criteria:
  • Hold a GPA of at least 2.5 in all college work or satisfactory completion in Continuing Education at ACC.

Music Business, Performance & Technology Program

Denius/Schulman Music Business, Performance & Technology Endowed Scholarship

Purpose: To assist students enrolled in the ACC Music Program who show musical ability in guitar.

Amount: $2,500 for tuition, fees, and books.

Primary Criteria:

  • Minimum 3.0 GPA in Music courses and 2.5 GPA overall.
  • Financial need (as determined by the ACC Financial Aid Office).
  • One letter of recommendation from a classical guitar instructor
  • An essay indicating musical background and future goals.

Terms of Scholarship:

  • Scholarship applies to tuition, fees, books, and supplies
  • Successfully complete a minimum of nine hours with a 3.0 GPA in Music courses and a 2.5 overall GPA while on scholarship.
  • Scholarship must be used within the academic year it was awarded.

Suzanne Cooper Endowed Scholarship

Purpose: To assist students enrolled in the ACC Associate Degree of Nursing program.

Criteria:

  • Be accepted into and enrolled in the ACC Associate Degree of Nursing program
  • Must have a 3.0 GPA overall
  • Must enroll in approved curriculum for the degree plan
  • Submit an essay addressing why you have chosen to enter the field of nursing
  • Financial need as determined by the ACC Financial Aid Office

This is a spring semester award

Purpose: To assist students pursuing a degree in nursing and a career in providing quality health care.

Criteria:

  • Must enroll in approved curriculum for the degree plan
  • Submit an essay demonstrating a sincere commitment for a career in nursing
  • Preference will be given to Travis County high school graduates, and/or residents of the district

Purpose: To assist students enrolled in the Paralegal Program at ACC.

Photography Program

Reagan Bradshaw Endowed Scholarship

Purpose: To assist students enrolled in the ACC Photographic Technology program.

Amount: The number of awards and the dollar amount will be based on the funds available.

Criteria:

  • Overall GPA of 2.5 in non-photography coursework and an overall 3.5 GPA in photography coursework.
  • Successfully completed PHTC 2301 (Intermediate Photography) and PHTC 1341 (Color Photography I).
  • Student must demonstrate artistic and technical excellence in photography as determined by the selection committee.
  • Financial need as determined by the ACC Financial Aid Office.

Terms of Scholarship:

  • Maintain a 2.5 GPA overall in non-photography coursework and a 3.5 GPA overall in photography coursework.

"Ryan" Endowed Scholarship

Purpose: To assist students who have enrolled in developmental education at ACC in transferring to a four year Texas University.

Amount: The number of awards and the dollar amount will be based on the funds available.

Criteria:

  • Completed 40 hours of coursework, and maintained a 2.5 GPA.
  • Two letters of recommendation (one of which must be from a school official).

Terms of Scholarship:

  • Maintain a 2.5 GPA overall while on scholarship.
  • Enroll at a four year Texas University.
  • Scholarship must be used within one academic year.
  • Re-application necessary each academic year.

Veteran's Scholarships

Activision Blizzard C.O.D.E.Scholarship

Purpose: To assist veterans pursuing an associate degree or certificate at Austin Community College in the Game Development Program.

Amount: Four $2500 scholarships

Criteria:

  • An applicant for the scholarship must be an honorably discharged veteran of the United States Armed Forces (United States Army, Air Force, Marine Corps, Navy or Coast Guard), Reserves, or National Guard.
  • When applying for the scholarship, a student must submit a copy of one of the following documents:
    • Veteran's military discharge form (DD214 or WD-AGO 53-55)
  • Applicant must be pursuing a career in game development or game design, which is indicated by enrollment in specialization courses of Game and Visualization Programming, Game Art, or Game Design.
  • Minimum 2.5 GPA in all college work.
  • Financial need (as determined by the ACC Financial Aid Office).

Terms of Scholarship:

  • Successfully complete a minimum of six hours with a 2.5 GPA.
  • Scholarship applies to books, supplies, and incidental expenses not covered by the GI Bill.

Military Order of the Purple Heart Service Foundation, Inc. Endowed Scholarship

Purpose: To assist veterans and spouses of veterans attend ACC.

Amount: The number of awards and the dollar amount will be based on the funds available.

Criteria:

  • An applicant for the scholarship must be an honorably discharged veteran of the United States Armed Forces (United States Army, Air Force, Marine Corps, Navy or Coast Guard) or spouse of an honorably discharged veteran. Spouse of a deceased veteran remains eligible unless and until he/she remarries a non-veteran.
  • When applying for the scholarship, a student must submit copies of the following documents prior to registration for the class:
    • Veteran's military discharge form (DD214 or WD-AGO 53-55)
    • Proof of marriage to veteran (for spouses only)

Bob Lain Endowed Scholarship

Purpose: To reward academic achievement, recognize individual accomplishment and assist deserving students in completing the course work for the associate of applied science in Visual Communication.

Amount: The number of awards and the dollar amount will be based on the funds available.

Criteria:

  • ACC Visual Communication majors who have completed 18 hours of Visual Communication course work and have at least 9 credit hours remaining to complete their AAS in Visual Communication.
  • Must supply three letters of recommendation, a short essay, a financial statement, and portfolio of 3 to 5 original illustrations and/or comprehensive layouts. (Video of animation or computer animation may be submitted as part of the portfolio requirement).
  • Meeting satisfactory progress at ACC.

Terms of Scholarship:

  • Maintain satisfactory progress while on scholarship.
  • Scholarship applies to tuition, fees, and books.
  • May only be used toward a degree or certificate in Visual Communication at ACC.

ACC Counseling Services Scholarship

Purpose: In honor of Austin Community College District counselors, this scholarship recognizes students who seek professional guidance in achieving their educational goals.

Amount: Three $1,000 scholarships for tuition, fees, books and supplies.

Criteria:

  • Students who have completed two or more semesters at ACC with a cumulative 2.5 GPA and 75% completion rate. Students who do not have the required cumulative GPA or completion rate, but who meet that standard for each of the last two semesters are eligible for this award.
  • Received high school diploma or GED prior to entering ACC.
  • Written recommendation and approved degree audit from at least one ACC counselor. If undecided, may submit counselor recommended plan, such as Core Curriculum courses.
  • Complete and submit a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA); information can be obtained in the Financial Aid Office at 512.223.4AID. If you cannot submit this application, please explain the circumstances in your essay.
  • Submit an essay of 300 words or more explaining educational and career goals, and how you have effectively reached out to others for guidance.

Terms of Scholarship:

  • Successfully complete at least six hours each semester while on scholarship and earn a semester GPA of 2.5 and completion rate of 75%.
  • Re-application necessary each year.
  • Meet with an ACC Counselor at least twice per semester while on scholarship.
  • Scholarship must be used within one academic year.

Purpose: To assist students of Hispanic heritage attending ACC.

  • Have at least a 2.25 overall GPA or GED equivalency as a first-time, former, or current ACC student.
  • Financial need as determined by the ACC Financial Aid Office.

  • An essay of 300 words or more explaining educational and career goals and how the First Tee program has impacted your life.

    Essay of 300-500 words should address how education can promote social harmony and enhance race relations.

Louise Epstein & John Henry McDonald Scholarship

Purpose: To assist individuals who have overcome addiction through Austin Recovery.

Amount: $2,500 for tuition, fees, and books.

Criteria:

  • An overall 2.5 GPA in high school or college OR GED equivalency.
  • Written recommendation from the Austin Recovery Volunteer and Alumni Specialist or Sponsor.
  • An essay of 300 words or more explaining educational and career goals, and how you have recovered from addiction.
  • Financial need as determined by the ACC Financial Aid Office.

Terms of Scholarship:

  • May be used for any program at ACC that leads to a certificate or associate degree.
  • Student must enroll in at least six hours each semester while on scholarship and earn a minimum semester GPA of 2.5.
  • Student must be an active participant in the Austin Recovery Alumni Association.
  • Scholarship must be used within one academic year.

Purpose: To assist ACC students pursuing a career in public service.

  • Minimum 3.0 GPA in all college work.
  • Students may either be pursuing an associate degree from ACC or planning to transfer to a four year college or university.
  • Demonstrate involvement in extra-curricular activities (i.e. Student Government, community service, etc.)

Purpose: To provide assistance to students of Hispanic heritage studying chemistry, physics, mathematics or studying to become a teacher.

  • Hold a GPA of at least 2.5 in all college work or satisfactory completion in Continuing Education at ACC.
  • May be used for majors in chemistry, physics, mathematics, or the ACC Teacher Certification program through Continuing Education.

Purpose: To assist students of Cuban descent.

  • In scholarship essay, please expand on how your heritage has influenced your educational goals.

Purpose: To assist students attending ACC.

    One letter of recommendation from a voting member of the Student Government Association (SGA).
    An essay explaining what the SGA does for ACC.
    Voting members of SGA are not eligible.
    Financial need as determined by the ACC Financial Aid Office.
