Business
Studies Out-of-District Travel Guidelines
Out-of-district
travel is any ACC-related travel outside of the College’s
service area. All out-of-district travel must be approved by
an employee’s supervisor and the Business Studies
Dean. International travel requires the President’s
approval. Approval must be obtained well in advance of the
anticipated travel dates. To be eligible for reimbursement,
travel must be for approved professional development, or provide clear
benefits to student learning, the discipline, and/or the
college.
Because of the
Division’s limited travel budget, employees are limited to
one trip each academic year. Travel is approved on a
first-come-first-served basis. Some travel money is held in
reserve to cover mandatory travel such as WECM workshops. If
surplus travel money is available late in the academic year an employee
may request approval for a second trip. Full-time faculty get
approval priority since their job responsibilities are broader than
those of adjunct faculty. However, adjunct faculty are also
eligible for out-of-district travel reimbursement.
Out-of-district
travel conducted as part of a course (e.g., leading a study abroad
trip) is not eligible for reimbursement from the division travel
budget. Reimbursement for travel of this type is usually
covered by student fees or grants. Travel conducted
solely to meet the requirements for professional licensure is also not
eligible for reimbursement.
Your
department’s Administrative Assistant can provide you with
the appropriate approval forms and provide guidance in making travel
arrangements.
