Welcome to the Business Studies Reference
Materials for Faculty and
Staff
The
Business Studies Division at
Austin Community College operates
with approximately 150 employees who all play a role in educating our
students
and providing the local workforce with well trained professionals. The
division is composed of 13 departments, all of which are accredited by
the
Association of Collegiate Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP). Business
Studies has a presence on all ACC
campuses and many other locations around Central Texas.
Community
colleges serve the most
diverse population of
students in the U.S. higher education system.
Our
students come
in a wide variety of ages, education levels, academic
abilities, and motivations for taking classes. A
single class
may include students who just received their GEDs sitting
next to students who already possess advanced degrees.
This
makes teaching at a community college
challenging and very rewarding.
Business
Studies faculty are
innovative in the use of
teaching methodologies, instructional technology, non-traditional
course
formats, and study abroad. Students can
currently complete three degrees and numerous certificates through
distance
learning. The
professionalism of the
division’s faculty along with the use of industry advisory
committees ensures
that students receive the knowledge and skills required for the
increasingly
competitive workplace.
