Current Projects Back to top

Academic

I have co-authored a textbook in public speaking for Kendall-Hunt Publishing Company, and am working on the next edition. On campus, I am active in finding ways to adapt distance learning technology to deliver speech courses to our students who may not be able to attend traditional class sections.  Four different approaches are being used to better meet the needs of Austin's unique populations:  live interactive television, cable programming, computer based instruction and hybrid courses.

 Speaking

I speak publicly whenever I have the opportunity.  This gives me valuable insights into what I teach.  For me, walking the talk is exciting and challenging.  When speaking to community groups, I focus on two topics: 1) negative drama in the workplace and how to avoid it and  2)  saying less and getting more in meetings and presentations.  If you know of a group that would be interested in either of these messages, please let me know!
