The Powell family has produced a number of educators over the past 60 years. The Smithsonian Institute holds a book written about family members who have gained recognizable fame. Juanda is just beginning her teaching profession after being in the work world since 1992 when she graduated from the University of Texas at Austin School of Architecture. Although she is following in the steps of giants, her knowledge gained in the public sector and private industry fit well with the expertise already existing in the A&E CAD department.
Her drafting interest started while she was developing architectural plans and specifications for the State of Texas project architects and continued through her position assisting the head State Construction Inspector for office buildings. After moving to the private sector she had the good fortune of working with a local Engineering firm with a small Architectural-Engineering Group that concentrated on residences.
Her exposure to drafting concrete framing design, site layouts, and framing for commercial and residential structures allowed her to see the growing Architectural-Engineering Group should be her "home". For several years her background experience in construction, codes, inspections and project documentation was applied to drafting residences for volume builders as well as large custom homes.
